Microteaching Magic: A Splash of Canva, a Dash of Quizziz, and a Whole Lot of Learning!

Wow!!! what an incredible microteaching experience we just had! Honestly, I’m still buzzing with excitement. From the moment I began designing my session, I knew I wanted to do something different; something visually engaging and fun, yet still deeply rooted in strong pedagogy. Enter Canva and Quizizz; two game-changing tools I picked up from our ED403 sessions (thank you, ED403!).

I used Canva to create my lecture presentation, and let me just say: it felt like turning my ideas into art. The visuals, the flow, the clean transitions—it brought my content to life in a way that PowerPoint never quite could. It wasn’t just about aesthetics, though; it was about creating a learning atmosphere that felt fresh and inviting.

To kick things off, I threw in a cheeky little quiz using Quizizz; something light and interactive to warm up the class. And wow, did it work! It broke the ice instantly, got everyone smiling, and subtly set the tone for collaborative and curious learning. Watching my classmates engage, compete (nicely!), and even laugh a little reminded me just how powerful technology can be when it’s used with purpose.

But the best part? Learning from each other. Everyone brought their A-game. I walked away with new ideas, new inspiration, and a newfound respect for the creativity and brilliance in our cohort. And of course, a big vinaka vakalevu to Dr. Shikha for her thoughtful feedback. She has this amazing way of affirming your strengths while gently guiding you toward improvement; so empowering.

This microteaching experience wasn’t just a box to tick. It was a reminder that teaching is both an art and a science and when we dare to experiment, learn from others, and reflect deeply, that’s when the real magic happens.

So yes, I’ll definitely be carrying this spark into my future classrooms. More colour. More connection. More curiosity. Bring it on!
